Project Title
Grassland H2: Green hydrogen from rural areas - Transformation of the energy supply in the region of Mühlhausen in cooperation with agriculture sector
Project description
The aim is to develop economically viable and innovative perspectives for the transformation of the energy supply for public transport, other stakeholders in the municipal service and the industry in the direction to a sustainable energy supply with hydrogen as an element for the energy provision in the region of the city Mühlhausen. One key element shall be the existing companies and structures, which produce biogas already today and can contribute a part for the hydrogen production in the future with the conversion of their excisting plants. Specifically will be the three technologies biogas-steam-reforming, biomethane plasmalysis and biological hydrogen production at the biogas plants in the region of Mühlhausen investigated and the resulting economical perspectives for the hydrogen use in the public transport, municipal services of Mühlhausen and other companies in the region of Mühlhausen will be showen. Existing knowledge of hydrogen production via water electrolysis will be not deepend, but will be used as a reference to the innovative technologies.
Final report
Results and the Final report will be found here, as soon as the project is completed.
Results focusing on practiceorientation
Expected is to show the suitability of biogas plants for the implementation of sustainable actions to ensure a longterm biomas use. Additionally is expected to generate economical key figures for the production and use of hydrogen, which is produced out of biogas with one the innovative technologies biogas-steam-reforming, biomethane-plasmalysis or biological hydrogen production. The aim is to make this key figures available for the project partners and for other regions as well. Furthermore can be expected that all examined concepts will be accesable in standardised brief documentation and will also be available in a project report.
